- Parental Advisory
The activities and links on our site are acceptable for ages 17 and over. However... We cannot be present 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Nor are we by any means a substitute for your parental guidance or involvement. It is possible your child may be exposed to inappropriate language or topics in any online web site or RPG. We do our best to keep it to a minimum. There are benefits to playing such as: increased typing speed and accuracy, higher self esteem, even improved computer skills, improved writing skills, exploring imaginations, to name a few. This largely depends on the individual and what aspect of the experience they choose to focus on.
I urge you to consider the pros and cons of allowing your child to participate based on his or her maturity level. Please, also speak to your children and warn them to NEVER give their personal information to anyone on the internet. Talk to them about the dangers of giving their name, address, phone number or even school name to anyone via the net! It is a prosecutable crime to engage in sexually explicit conversations (cyber) with a minor on the internet. So know to whom you are speaking before you start. We will not be responsible for untruths told by anyone in the game. Feel free to voice any concerns you may have in regards to your child.

Common Courtesy
- Universal Rules & Respect
Be respectful and civil. Members should post in a way that is respectful of other users. Flaming or abusing users in any way will not be tolerated and will lead to a warning. Repeated incidences will result in an immediate and permanent ban.
Keep an open mind and do not judge others at the Fae Forest. Please be respectful to your fellow writers in regards to personal beliefs, race, religion, sexuality, etc. There is enough hate-mongering in the real world, do not bring it here!
Users linking to or asking for information on warez, crackz, etc. or re-printing material without permission will receive a warning and their post will be removed.
Members should post in a way which is consistent with normal writing. That is, users should not post excessive numbers of emoticons, large, small or colored text, etc. Similarly users should not SHOUT or use excessive punctuation (e.g. ! and ?) in topic titles or posts. Users consistently abusing this will be warned. Members should use an appropriate, descriptive title when posting a new topic. Examples of bad titles include; Help me!, I'm stuck!, I've got an error!, etc.
The moderating, support and other teams reserve the right to edit or remove any post at any time. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, etc. as noted in these points is up to the Moderators and the Administration, not the users.
Hate posts and personal attacks will not be tolerated at The Fae Forest. Treat others as you would expect them to treat you. Talking trash about another user or posting topics designed to provoke a negative response from an individual, a group or an entire community is not acceptable. Posts of these types will be deleted and will result in a warning. Bashing or Flaming of other communities - whether they are forum based or IRC based is not allowed here. Please respect the various communities you may find here, or elsewhere on the internet. If you don't like another community, don't complain about it here. Bashing and/or Flaming posts will be deleted.
Users of OOC in IC threads will be asked once to stop. There are OOC discussion forums to talk about plots and stories. Use them for their intended purpose.
If you and a person suddenly become unfriendly with each other Out-of-Character, do not take that into the IC writing. For instance, if you have two characters who are best friends, do not let an Out-of-Character fight spread into the role-play. A better idea would be to plan an In-Character fight or to drift apart in role-play slowly.
Respect the setting as it is and please gear your characters, their origins, and equipment to the time period.

Posting Styles
- Standards
The Fae Forest is dedicated to the advanced writer. Because of this, we do our best to adhere to a higher standard of quality in regards to storytelling. Therefore, we do ask that posts made in the IC forums are at least 3 - 4 paragraphs in length, with each paragraph consisting of 4 - 5 full sentences. Everyone understands that there are times when you become stumped or simply cannot post more than a couple of short paragraphs. We just don't want to see this become the norm. If lengthy posting, characters that are not God powerful, and creativity are not for you, then neither is The Fae Forest.
Not everyone is online all of the time. Members to this community range in location and lifestyle. Basically, people are online at different times. Because of this, a role-play will move at the pace in which the writers involved can respond. So, give role-players a chance to respond to your thread. If after a while the role-players involved have still failed to respond, it would be best if you contacted them and discussed the thread.
So how much time is acceptable before you decide to make a post and continue on without a member participating in the storyline? 7 days. If something comes up that will prevent you from making a post within the 7 day rule, please be courteous to your fellow members and let them know by either posting an LOA (leave of absence) or notifying them in the threads OOC discussion thread.
Important: Anyone who does not extend this common courtesy to their fellow members and story-line participants will have their turn skipped or their character NPC'd by the story-line creator until either:
- You return to resume posting, or
- Your character is written out of the thread.

Power-gaming
- Godmoding
A GodPC, simply put, is a character that has no weaknesses, can kill everything with a flick of his/her hand, can see through walls, deflect bolts of lightning with his pinkie, get straight A's without opening the book, etc, etc, etc...I think you get my point. A GodPC is basically an unrealistic, unbalanced character, with no flaws or weaknesses apparent in their being, and/or no areas that require work or development on the part of the player.
GodPC's are BAD.
They are bad for thousands of reasons, but the main one is simply that they detract from the realism of the story. No one is invincible or without flaws/problems, so why would a character be like that? Trying to play with a GodPC is not much fun for other players, so they generally ignore them, or if they refuse to listen to any advice thrown their way, they're banned from the community.
If you are accused of playing a GodPC, you may want to think about your character's abilities, flaws, and personality. Please note that everyone's opinion of what make's a GodPC varies...if you are accused of writing one and you don't think you are, perhaps you should talk to the other players privately and explain the action you just made your character do. Sometimes all it takes is an explanation. This involves actions in-character (IC) which are impossible or that give you an unfair advantage. For instance, throwing a mountain at someone, destroying a ship in one post, or wiping out a planet by clicking some fingers are all examples of God Moding.
God Moding is not tolerated and anyone found guilty of such, will be called out on it.
